Patrick Lantz

Patrick Lantz was has been studying martial arts since he was 6 years old.He has been a personal trainer and martial arts instructor for six years. He began the study of karate at 6, Kuk Sool Won at 13 and Sil Lum Gong Fu at 16. In his late teens he was in a serious car accident, breaking his hip, pelvis and legs. With determination, practice and discipline from his years of martial arts training, Patrick was able to recover. He has continued to practice and study a wide variety of martial arts. Patrick was able to train in Wudang China 2011-2012, the area known as the birthplace of Taiji. Patrick returned to China in 2013, where he was introduced to his current teacher, Jiao Guanjun. In addition to translating his teacher's book, he has been given permission to teach SunStyle Tai Chi, as well as to certify others as instructors in the Sun Style Tai Chi form.

  • Two 8-week, twice weekly series are offered:
    Series starts Monday May 16th-July 9th
    Monday & Wednesday 9am-10:15am
    Tuesday & Thursday 5:30pm-6:45pm
    Cost: $150 for each 8-week, twice weekly series
    Saturday 8:30am extra practice day $10
    Sun style Tai Chi is famous for its high stances and simplified movements. It is easy to learn and do and is an exercise suitable for nearly everyone. This series is designed for beginners and novices. The course's  focus is on learning the basics of Chinese internal practices and the essence of tai chi movements. A course book: Sun Style Taiji Quan Beginner's Edition is included in the cost of the series. This book is translated from the Chinese by our instructor Patrick Lantz. Material to be covered includes:
    *A brief history of the style and biographies of the masters. *Basics: body principles, stances, footwork
    *Meditation: standing and walking methods
    *Postures: small sets of movements from the simplified  form that will be practiced repetitiously on both sides of the body.
    *Pushing Hands: an introduction to two-person application for the purpose of creating a better understanding of the postures and their concepts.
    Students can expect a low-pressure modern approach to learning taiji that is more about experiencing and trying movements and studying a small amount of material in greater depth. Expect a strong emphasis on self-cultivation and preventative health maintenance.

    This class is open to students registered in either the 
    Monday & Wednesday 9am Tai Chi Series or the Tuesday & Thursday 5:30pmTai Chi Series. This is an extra practice class or a make-up class if you missed a session and can't make one of the regular sessions. IF it is an extra session,  There is a $10 drop-in fee. *Register online by 8pm Friday night.
